A Comprehensive Guide to UDT Live Testing for Seamless Device Debugging and Application Management

This guide introduces UDT live testing's core features.
UDT is a comprehensive mobile testing platform for large-scale automation on a cloud-based device farm, featuring local access tools for efficient device management by development teams. It supports both Android and iOS devices, offering developers and testers a suite of tools to install apps, capture screenshots, analyze logs, manage files, and execute commands seamlessly. Whether you're debugging an app, monitoring real-time system behavior, or collaborating with teams, UDT-Live Testing simplifies the process with intuitive workflows and powerful integrations. Below is a detailed breakdown of its core features:

1. Device List Page

Displays the list of devices that have been integrated, allowing for the search and filtering of device information, and selecting the devices that need to start debugging for remote debugging. Device information displayed includes: Device ID, Device Brand, Device Alias, Device Model, System Version Information, Serial Number, Device Status. Clicking "Start" will enter the device debugging page, or you can click "Continue" to reopen the debugging window.

2. Device Debugging Page

As shown in the figure below, the device debugging page includes the remote real device screen, quick operation function area, and live testing toolset.

3. Application Installation (Android & iOS)

On the debugging page of the specified device, the default tab is the [Application] tab.

Upload Application: If the application to be debugged has not been uploaded, click "Upload App" to upload it.

Install Application: If the application to be tested has been uploaded but not installed, click install on the uploaded application list page.

Application installation supports displaying upload speed and progress; it also supports reinstalling and uninstalling applications.

4. Screenshot (Android & iOS)

You can take a screenshot of the debugging interface and export the screenshot file to the local device.

5. Real-time Logs (Android & iOS)

You can view real-time phone logs and download the phone logs to a local file in real-time.

It supports filtering logs and setting the maximum number of lines for the terminal cache.

6. Files (Android & iOS)

A visual interface for browsing phone files, which allows for resource package uploads, device file browsing, file downloads, creating folders, etc. At the same time, you can search for files in the search box above, switch paths, and quickly enter the specified directory.

7. Remote Debugging (Android & iOS)

WDB (WeTest Debug Bridge) is a unified remote debugging tool provided by UDT. The program is a cross-platform binary file that can be downloaded and used directly, such as cmd/cmder/powershell under Windows, Terminal/iTerm2 under MacOS, etc. Copy the command to the terminal and execute it to connect to the device.

8. Terminal (Android)

Provides terminal functionality, allowing you to input relevant operation commands below.

Conclusion

UDT bridges the gap between developers and physical devices, enabling efficient remote testing across Android and iOS ecosystems. With features like real-time screen sharing, log monitoring, cross-platform CLI tools, and visual file management, teams can diagnose issues faster, collaborate effectively, and ensure app compatibility without manual device handling. Whether you're iterating on a build or troubleshooting a live app, UDT empowers you to work smarter—no matter where your devices are located.
